About Australia Post
With a history dating back to the 1800s, Australia Post is a government business enterprise offering postal services and delivery in Australia. During the course of a year, Australia Post delivered more than 3 billion letters and parcels - over 1.3 million parcels per day.
Recognised as one of the country’s most trusted brands, its network of over 4,300 post offices - including its headquarters in Melbourne - is the country’s most extensive retail network.
Owned by the Commonwealth Government but completely self-funded, Australia Post is required under the Australian Postal Corporation Act 1989 to earn commercially while meeting its community service obligations.
In addition to its core business of mail processing, package and delivery, Australia Post offers banking services, insurance cover, passport services, foreign cash orders as well as retail merchandise. These may include phone accessories, electronics and common office equipment such as computing and photo printer products.
