Tie a pencil to string and adjust it to be 740mm long, pin the other end halfway along the long side of the front piece, mark an arch and cut with a jigsaw. 3 On the front of the cubes, apply construction adhesive along the top and down the sides to position the MDF arch. Apply adhesive over the top of the cubes to position the MDF top. Clamp, wipe away any excess adhesive with a clean damp cloth and leave to cure. Use a 3mm bit to pre-drill four holes through the joined sides, 40mm in from the edges, securing with 60mm screws. Cover the screws and the centre join with filler, leaving to dry. Smooth the MDF edges and all over the cubes with 180-grit abrasive paper, then wipe away dust with a cloth. Apply primer and two coats of water-based enamel to the MDF and cubes, leaving to dry after each. Tip: No need to paint the top of the cubes or underneath. Keep in mind... ■ Follow the manufacturer's instructions when assembling the cube unit.
